Trading Technologies International, Inc. (TT) develops high-performance trading software for derivatives professionals, including the world's premier exchanges, money-center banks, proprietary traders, hedge fund traders, securities brokers, FCMs and other trading institutions. Over 50% of the electronic volume on the top six futures exchanges goes through TT's X_TRADER® Order-Entry Platform. On August 12, 2004, Trading Technologies International filed a lawsuit against eSpeed, Inc. the electronic fixed-income inter-dealer broker spun out of Cantor Fitzgerald ("eSpeed") in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in Chicago, alleging infringement of TT's U.S. Patent Nos. 6,766,304 and 6,772,132. The patents relate to functionality of TT's MD TraderT, which is a component of TT's X_Trader® trading software. In a widely circulated open letter to the futures trading community CEO Harris Brumfield offered a clear deal- pay 2.5 cents for every futures trade executed electronically (whether or not on TT's software) or risk suit for patent infringement. These patents are listed on Patently-O as some of the Most Litigated Patents 2005-2007 |
